# Format

You can set format settings about appearance styles, such as colors and icons, to each series value columns and child columns as same as the normal columns.

To set format setting, select "Setting" from the menu in each header and change the style from the "Format" tab in the dialog.

## Format in Series Value Column

If you set format setting to a particular series value column, the format setting is applied to all child columns corresponding to that series value. If the format setting is done in child columns, the series formatting is overridden.

Conditional formatting is not available for series value column format.
{% endhint %}

## Format in Child Column

If you set format setting to a particular child column, the style is applied to corresponding child columns in all series values. If you set format in a child column, it will overwrite the format even if you have set format to the series value column.

### Conditional Format

Like regular columns, child columns can also be conditionally formatted. Also, as with regular columns, it is possible to change the column to be compared in conditional formatting to a column other than the current column, but only child columns belonging to the same matrix column can be compared.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.mashmatrix.com/mashmatrix-sheet/functions_advanced/time_series_matrix_transformation/format.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
